This year, the first day of summer in the northern hemisphere is June 21st. The summer solstice refers to the time when the sun reaches its northernmost point. The sun will be higher in the sky, and we’ll get the most hours of daylight in the whole year. You can check out The Old Farmer’s Almanac online to find out how many hours of sunlight you’ll get in your location.
Here are a few things we’re looking forward to doing, now that school is out:
- Trips to the zoo
- Museums and gardens
- Beach
- Reading, reading and more reading!
- Hikes
- Summer camps (soccer, Cub scouts, arts & crafts)
- Bike rides
- Play dates
- Sleepovers at Grandma’s
- Spa-at-home days
- De-cluttering and organizing
- Writing
- Eating yummy, fresh food…
- …and ice cream!
Mostly I am looking forward to having fun with my wonderful kids, watching them play and grow, talking with them and listening to them, and helping them develop relationships with their friends and family. So how will you spend summer?
