Happy day to all fathers and father figures! I hope you have a day full of fun and relaxation with your loved ones.
Just as I shared information on the seven mothers (from Vedic or ancient Indian culture) on Mother’s day, I’d like to share about the seven fathers. Here they are:
- Your own father who helped raise you, and helped provide all the necessities in life as well as guided you in those big life questions.
- The ox or bull is your father (just as the cow is your mother) because traditionally they helped till the land, thereby providing food grains.
- A male teacher is considered a father because he helped you learn not only the abc’s and 123’s but also about respect and hard work.
- The king or leader of a nation is a father because he needs to make sure all his citizens are safe, peaceful and well-fed.
- The brahmana, or priest, makes sure the king and citizenry do not neglect their spiritual duties.
- The guru or spiritual master guides his disciples in their unique relationships with God.
- And just as Mother Earth generously gives us all her bounty, the seed-giving father is God Himself. He provides all creatures with everything they need out of His deep love for us.
I hope this list inspires you to appreciate all the fathers in your life!
